CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY

What is Craniosacral Therapy (CST)?

Craniosacral Therapy (CST, Cranial Sacral Therapy, Cranial-Osteopathy) is a gentle hands-on therapy, used to assess and treat restrictions in the craniosacral system (CSS).

What is the Craniosacral System (CSS)?

The CSS includes the brain and spinal cord, the membranes that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord, as well as the bones the membranes attach to.  The bones are of the skull, face, spine, and sacrum.

What is the Craniosacral Rhythm (CSR)?

The Craniosacral Rhythm (CSR) is the low amplitude rhythmic motion of the CSS. It is this rhythm that the therapist uses to feel for and release restrictions in the CSS.

What CST help with?

Headaches, migraines, sinus infection/pain, TMJ dysfunction, dental issues, neck pain, back pain, hip pain, joint pain, scoliosis, whiplash, anxiety, depression, sleep disturbances, fibromyalgia, constipation, IBS, and more

What is a session like?

You wear lightweight comfortable clothing during the session. You lay comfortably on a warm massage table.  I use light pressured hand and finger contacts on your body, head and face.  Some people can feel the slight shifts/movements the occur during the sessions and others do not.  It is very calming and relaxing, and many people fall asleep.

How many sessions do you need?

After one session you will have a calm and deeply relaxed feeling. Many people feel an immediate improvement in their symptoms.  Depending on the problem, how long ago the issue started, and each person’s unique CSS response, typically 3-10 sessions are recommended.  As well many find regular maintenance sessions keep them feeling their best.
